So we’re flipping the script with this post, as Tomb Tree is apparently taking over, but first we’ve got the new Softseed Music release at the (almost) top with solo project extraordiniare Garry Brents. You might know him from oooooohhhhh I don’t know maybe Cara Neir? Gonemage? Homeskin? Sallow Moth? The list goes on. This is his first foray into electronic/break-beat music and it’s fucking glorious. Mis sueños son de tu adiós released their limited cassette /31 on Tomb Tree yesterday. Super shrieky emo-violence from Argentina, featuring all 2022 and 2023 tracks with a bonus full b-side of live jams!!!

Colacon released their “Gails of Contempt” teaser earlier this week and it should entice many to check out the full video that releases on Friday with the full 12”LP following in early May. Their release show is also the ZBR Fest 2024 pre-show! Woot woot!!!

Oh yeah this is Zegema Beach, isn’t it? We’re pretty fackin’ busy too, planning the fest and puttin’ in all those new releases (Niboowin, Terry Green, Burial Etiquette, Gossip, Widowdusk, etc.). But a friendly reminder that the Gxllium! x Onewaymirror split cd came and went in about 15 minutes, and you should definitely jam that shit. Then maybe you’ll be ready for the 7” drop later :) The release also made it onto Brooklyn Vegan’s New Songs Out Today section (and was used as the thumbnail) so you can check out that list by clicking on this text.

In Loving Memory first release in 20 years is out in full! Digitals and cassettes are available/shipping next week! The band also has 12”s for sale/pre-order and that closes in just a few short days. The fact that we were asked to make tapes for this is a serious compliment that we did not take lightly, we are truly honored. Snag’em now, they won’t last long! I also found two full length stragglers so they’re up in the store too, right next to the new EP :)

The big mage news over here is that one of our favourite releases, all the way back at #30, is the Congratulations cassette. We spoke with No Funeral Records well over a year ago about doing vinyl and this Wednesday July 26th our plans come to fruition. If you have no idea who Congratulations is then feel free to peep this release show in Hamilton that CanaDave put on back in 2014, linked here, with Terry Green and Nous Etions.

Rotting In Dirt kicked off the upstairs show during the last night and unveiled two new songs from an upcoming split…and wowza! So good!!! We will continue posting the single videos for each band that played the last day of ZBR Fest 2023 in the order that they played, so there’s more coming!

Softseed Music released ‘Alaska’ by Uno Lady earlier this year and her tranquil music videos are making the rounds. The label has another release lined up for next week!

In Loving Memory is back in action and had their full length remixed and remastered. Hooooooly moly does it sound incredible. It should release this month digitally (although we might wait until early June after we get them taaaaapes) with the cassettes being handled by Zegema Beach and Illuminate My Heart Records.

The tones on this record proudly display 2000s screamo of the Level Plane variety mixed with the unstable speed of German emo-violence to create a wildly entertaining listen through the 10 songs. 1st press was 250 copies on beautiful merge, but they sold out in the first day, so we made another 200 on splatter! Co-released with Moment Of Collapse, React With Protest, and Framecode Records. These WILL NOT stick around, sleeping not allowed.

So at a truly ungodly hour in the late night/earling morning of May 3rd, CanaDave begins his trek to the airport for Zegema Beach Records Fest 2023 and will not return until May 10th. What does this mean for you? Probably nothing! But if you planned on ordereing from the Canada/International store (aka this one) then you should know that all orders will go out on Tuesday May 2nd and then the store will not be shipping until my return on the 10th. May 10th also happens to be the release of ZMAR’s new 12”LP so if there are any outstanding orders I’ll obviously combine them and automatically refund you some shipping. Remixed by drummer/vocalist Steve Roach at Permanent Hearing Damage earlier this year, the eight songs sound better than ever.
