Double feature! First, Vibora’s ‘Zaldi Beltza’ has their 2nd pressing that we’ll upchuck in our stores this Friday alongside the distro update and Crossed release. Second, Hiding In The Outpost is back! We’ve been so busy with other stuff that I just didn’t have time for it…well now I’m makin’ time! ZBR Fest 2024 is right around the corder (May 3rd-5th, to be exact) so it’s high time for me to start reminiscing about the other fests that we’ve put on over the last decade. It started in 2014 with this Hamilton-based and poorly attended mini-fest. It featured the likes of Respire, Edhochuli, Old Soul, Black Love, Terry Green, and more! CanaDave’s new band Mourn Recif is having their first show on April 27th on Vancouver Island in Duncan at The Space Time Continuum (send us a msg for exact location). Poster below. They’ve also got Facebook and Instagram pages now so click on the respective name to go to said Mourn Recif page. First recordings happen in a month or two. 7 songs down.

Vow released today on Tomb Tree and it’s arguably the heaviest thing they’ve ever released, which is saying something cuz they released Orphaned! Wicked late 90s metallic hardcore meets 2000s metalcore with some death crossover. Stores are linked through the bandcamp below.

With such a stellar release, it only makes sense that people are giving the new self-titled .22LR reviews. Case in point (((((OPENmind/SATURATEDbrain))))). Tapes didn’t sell out immediately but they’ve been moving steadily since the release as people are catching on that this is one of the best EPs of 2024. Widowdusk was reviewed by the always truthful Borderline Fuckup who gave this release an “underappreciated” tag which we agree with. Sure it got some hype, but jamming through that thing is heavenly. Riley from Gxllium! started this project as a solo act, but has since added more members, so this rare cassette includes that first solo EP with an additional track on the b-side. Wild, untamed, and abrasive, this debut features nasty/dark vocals slathered over jarring, dissonant instrumentals. Think Serpent Column with more rock/screamo and less metal/black metal. Released on Tomb Tree.

Okay so we’ve been hanging on to some backup copies in case the postal service fucked anyone, and as everything has arrived safely we can unlock those copies of very sold out stuff. On Saturday March 16th the Canada store will have their Little Big Stuff Thing, with the US version being held at the ZBR Fest 2024 Record Fair for those that miss out on the initial BST or are lucky enough to make the trek to rifle through the bins in person. This also enables people not attending the fest to actually snag something from this most recent Big Stuff Thing. Apart from the Test press raffle (info below) we’ll have Onewaymirror, Tristan Tzara handmades, Congratulations handmades, a single Senza, a few Blind Girls, Orchid 12”s, a swirled Gifts From Enola tape boxset, Euclid C Finder’s final cassette copy, a small stack of Burial Etiquette/Mis Suenos splits, a buncha screamo t-shirts, etc. This goes down on:

SATURDAY March 16th, 2024 @9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST

The Test press raffle product is live and closes at 9am PST when the Big Stuff Thing tab goes live, and includes shipping costs as if you don’t win a test I’ll just send you a ZBR 12”, therefore no one actually loses, you just might not win a test. This enables customers to pick up some rare shit too from the Little Big Stuff Thing and then I can refund your shipping difference if you’ve taken part in the test press raffle. Included are some test presses of records that won’t be out for months (Terry Green, Niboowin, Gossip, etc.)!

The U.S. is either out or down to single digit copies whilst this Canadian/International store has just a single copy in store with an additional single copy on Bandcamp, included are New Forms, Othiel, and Pettersson.

CanaDave’s 150th podcast is with Gxllium!. We released their split with Onewaymirror last month, with their debut album getting the cassette treatment next month, and the band is also coming to ZBR Fest 2024 to annihilate us all.
