2026 - 1 - 14 /// Sear out, Sungaze pre-order, Shove distro on Friday!

January 14, 2026 by David Norman

Sear’s ‘O Merciful’ is out on 12” from Tomb Tree (and cassette via Limited Hangout Records) with art from @josephpereztattoo. The dark, oppressive, dense screamo/black metal features members of To Forget and is the soundtrack to today’s political landscape. Mages sold out quickly, only black 12”s remain and we only made 100 of those so we don’t expect them to hang around for long!!!

Click here for the full premiere!

Gravess got their final premiere from their new EP ‘losing everything that makes life beautiful’ that releases January 21st on Zegema Beach and Severed Records via 12”. The records are in hand and we’ll release promos shortly. Scope the new jam by clicking on this text or the pic above, scope the first premiere from the Zampler below.

There’s going to be a big ole Shove distro update on Friday at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST, here’s what’s going up. In case you don’t know some of these covers, there’s Raein, Tenue, La Quiete, ByMySide, Only, Coma Regalia, Norse, Abandoncy, Adorno, Alkupera, Letterbombs x Lori, Crossed x Vibora, Since By Man, oh and we’ve got the Adobe Homes 12” Euro/band variants too!!! These will all go up in the “New Items/Specials” heading of the Canada/International store and straight onto the homepage of the US store.

Sungaze’s fourth full length “I’m No Longer Afraid of Heights” is now up for 12” pre-order with 5 of the 10 songs available to listen/download. The full release for this baby is May 22nd, 2026 and there’s a run of tapes from Candlepin Records as well as cds from the band. Fans of Smush and She’s Green should be all over this.

Click here for the full review!

Mourn Recif is playing a show on January 24th at that sick skate shop again (a new song from their last show there linked here) with a seriously sick lineup. We’re working on a full length album so we won’t be playing many shows over the next few months so please come out to this one and say hi if you can. Also, the Mourn Recif x A Recorded Dawn split got some love from This Noise Is Ours so you should scope that out by clicking on the pic above or this text.

Shesmadefromsuede is down to just a handful of copies left and also got an additional push from the (((((OPENmind/SATURATEDbrain))))) blog which you can access by clicking on the pic above or this text. The band existed solely for this EP then called it a day. Wicked metallic hardcore/screamo in the vein of Mondrary, Blind Girls, Roman Candle, etc.

Operation X-Ray did a wicked roundup of screamo releases from the year. I found a bunch of bands that I hadn’t heard and were awesome, but my top 3 discoveries were: absent from the morning headcount, open carry state, and Chigaki Death Metro. Check that shit below.

Click here for the full article!

Inosuke made Horns Up’s round-up with honorable mentions for Hetta and Coup D’etat. All of our Inosuke orders have gone out so thanks for your patience with those, but now we only have a few left!!! Click on the pic above or this text to go to the article.

It’s official, Concealer 12”LPs for their new first full length are at the pressing plant! The band released their first single on Zampler 26 (embedded below) and made Boolin Tunes “Top 25 Bands To Watch In 2026” and we couldn’t agree more. This album is fucking incredible. Kinda Hopesfall. Kinda I Promised The World. Kinda Deftones. Click on the pic above or this text to read up on all 25 bands.

Today’s Last Fucking Copy goes to Yotsuya Kaidan’s debut EP ‘Tired of Tomorrow’s You’, which was a really early ZBR release that floored me when I heard. Very Euro-Orchid esque and screamo as fuck. No repress from us coming, so definitely last fucking copy. Snag now (from the Bandcamp link below) or forever hold your peace.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: ABSENT FROM THE MORNING HEADCOUNT = This debut is insane. Check it!

2025 - 10 - 28 /// Coup D’état out + Nuvo cds tomorrow + Inosuke premiere!

October 28, 2025 by David Norman

Coup D’état released their sophomore album (a four-song EP, to be exact) yesterday via 100 cds in four-panel digipaks. The bandcamp orders and Canada/International store orders have already gone out, with the US store copies going out early November (cuz I have to ship them to the US store today). This shows the band getting simultaneously poppier and heavier (depending on the song), with a more varied musical palette and increased cohesiveness. So good!

Right before Nuvolascura goes on tour in Asia, we made another 100 cds of each of their full lengths! That’s right! 100 ‘Nuvolascura’ cds in a four-panel digipak, 100 ‘As We Suffer From Memory and Imagination’ in a four-panel digipak, and 100 ‘How This All Ends’ in a jewel case (1st run was in a dvd case, so these are different). These all go on sale tomorrow at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST.

Full premiere post linked here!

The first single from the next Inosuke album was premiered by Not Just A Phase yesterday. ‘Allomancer’ releases November 3rd on 12”LP and features Jason from Locktender and Erik from Stormlight! We still got some sweet vinyl of their debut album ‘rage/ruin’ embedded below. Click on the pic above or this text to go to the premiere for “a thousand years of ash and mist”.

Coup D’état’s release show for their self-titled cd happened this past Friday in Victoria with support from A Recorded Dawn and Mourn Recif. You can watch the 3-minute recap above, listen to the supporters split below, and/or click on this text to go to the full OMSB post with five total videos, including four currently unreleased songs!

Click here for the full premiere including links

Elle from Athousandangelsandseven fronts Fainting Dreams who had their final song premiere go up on the (((((OPENmind/SATURATEDbrain))))) blog, and it’s a gorgeous few minutes with additional help from Midwife and Allison Lorenzen. The tapes release October 31st on Softseed Music with an early full stream going down on October 30th via Idioteq.com! Go to the premiere by clicking on the pic above or this text.

Operation X-Ray followed up their CanaDave episode with another great smattering of tracks, including our very own Shesmadefromsuede and Adobe Homes. We’re already low on the former so pick one up before they’re gone forever.

Respire played one of the best sets I’ve ever seen them play at the most recent ZBR Fest. Here’s the official fest video above with the final copy of the third press of ‘Gravity and Grace’ embedded below.

RESPIRE - Gravity and Grace (12”LP)

ZBR062
For fans of: Old Soul, Alaskan, Godspeed You! Black Emperoror, Neil On Impression and Fall Of Efrafa

Respire is a six-piece band from Toronto, Canada, who combine epic post-hardcore, screamo, and black metal into a very cohesive formula that drips of maturity and patience. Gravity and Grace is their debut LP - a sprawling memoir of genre-defying soundscapes, reverb-washed tremolo harmonies, cascading arpeggios, dreamlike textures and walls of distorted guitars roaring over frantic rhythms, punctuated by tormented vocals and a near-orchestral array of instruments and contributors. Themes of loss, addiction, heartbreak, and existential anguish paint a bleak picture, but somewhere over the horizon rests a glimmering sense of hope, resolve and forgiveness.

This is a co-release between Zegema Beach Records (Canada), Ozona Records (USA), Dingleberry Records (Germany) and Narshardaa Records (Germany).

1st press:
12" vinyl on black (/100) and white (/200)

2nd press:
12” vinyl on clear (/200)

3rd press:
12” vinyl on half white/half black with a poster insert. 9 songs.

Today’s Last Fucking Copy goes to Bloom Dream’s ‘It Didn’t Have To Be This Way’ which we have had serious trouble keeping in stock (did two tapes run and a cd run), leaving only a test dip left. This is extra surprising as those usually go first. Snag or forever hold your peace! It’s on our bandcamp page embedded below.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: MIRA CORPORA = The first song from this band who’s been brewing for nearly 5 years just dropped their first single and it is fucking fire. Ex-Crowning, ex-Excrucis, with members of Valatie.

2025 - 10 - 22 /// Shesmadefromsuede + Coup D'etat release show

October 22, 2025 by David Norman

Mississippi’s Shesmadefromsuede released their first and last album on Tomb Tree and it’s a fucking banger. 5 tracks of screamo/metallic hardcore bliss for fans of Mondrary, Blind Girls, and Grimlitter. Tapes /78 but we sold about half the first day!

Friday is the cd release show for the new Coup D’etat EP where we’ll have copies in hand as well as the ZBR distro. This is also the A Record Dawn/Mourn Recif cd release! So much yummy.

Adobe Homes releases their new 12”LP ‘Años’ November 10th via Zegema Beach and Dog Knights. We did 300 copies with an extra surprise in the packaging, stay tuned for more info, but you can jam a song from the album below!

Click here for the full review!

This Noise Is Ours reviewed the new Nuvolascura album ‘How This All Ends’, which we’ve got like 7 copies left of the OG cd press, as the new/upcoming press are in regular jewel cases so this is the last of the DVD-style case. Jam/buy below or go to the review by clicking on this text or the pic above.

A heads up to all that ordered the Usurp Synapse 2 x 12” and/or cd, here’s the current update:
- 90% of the US store orders have gone out for the 2 x 12”
- bandcamp and Canada/International orders for the 2 x 12” won’t be going out until I get the box from the US, which should be here by the end of Oct, with all copies being out during the first week of November
- no US cd orders have gone out as the cds arrive in the US tomorrow
- all non-US cd orders have gone out!

Thanks for your patience on this, there are literally hundreds of orders and lots of moving parts (including family illness), but we should meet the deadline as we said during the pre-order that they’d ship early/mid-November. Please pick up a copy if you haven’t already! If we do a 2nd run they won’t be with the crazy laser-cut jackets so pick up this version while you can, or pay the dreaded reseller price!

CanaDave co-hosted the always awesome Operation X-Ray radio show! There are three premieres (two of them screamo) and a lotta ridiculous jams in this episode. Thanks so much to Andre for having me!

Oh shiiiiit there are some ZBR Fest video stragglers, so here’s Salvinorin-A and Punxsatuawney at our 2025 fest! There are a handful more videos to post…so until next time!

Holy shit how is there a Boneflower cassette left?!?! That’s right, today’s Last Fucking Copy goes to ‘A(r)mour)’, arguably their strongest album to date (but that new one is pretty sick too). Please take this off my hands (it’s in the bandcamp store embedded below).

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: MOURIR DEMAIN = A new project from Montreal that has some all-stars in it! Wicked emo-violence debut and it’s PWYC on Bandcamp.

2025 - 09 - 23 /// Mourn Recif x A Recorded Dawn released

September 23, 2025 by David Norman

The Mourn Recif x A Recorded Dawn split (also known around here as the ‘Josh split’) was released yesterday with the cds arriving today! Please take a listen and if you like what you hear snag a copy, as ZBR only has 25! Vancouver Island pinball skramz, baby.

Next up is the Demersal self-titled 12”EP releasing this Friday on Tomb Tree! Pre-orders will be going up, should ship in November.

Click here for the full review!

Mourn Recif got a nice write-up from the always reliable This Noise Is Ours. The band is playing with A Recorded Dawn and Coup D’etat on October 24th in Victoria, making it essentially a triple-ZBR release show! Click on the pic above or this text for the review, jam/buy the EP tapes below.

Nuvolascura continues to embrace all that love they’re getting for a groundbreaking third full length ‘How This All Ends’. Our final copies are up in the stores, get’em or forever hold your peace. That being said, we’ve got another run of cds coming in a jewel case instead of dvd case. Lastly, above is a great interview with the band and below is the album with links and whatnot.

Operation X-Ray ran with a record-tying four band on this episode, including the premiere of “Twelves” by Mourn Recif, a couple of Abandoncy jams, Athousandangelsandseven cuz of dem 7”s, and a new Demersal jam which comes out in full on Friday!!!

The Names Of Our Friends lived up to the hype and tore through their set with abandon. We were lucky enough to snag some 10”s of that beast, too. There’s just a few of the individual band videos from ZBR Fest left. You can access more via our Youtube channel. Snag the last of our 10”s by clicking on this text.

Click here for the full review!

Bok Suna got some love from The Bad Copy, and if you haven’t scoped this phenomenal sophomore album from Seattle/Tacoma’s best kept secret then I’ve gotta say, ya fuckin’ up. Click on the pic above or this text to go to the review. Jam/buy below.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: BACKYARD CAMPING = My boy Mathew from Athousandangelsandseven sent me his high school band. It’s fucking awesome. Check it!

2025 - 09 - 16 /// Athousandangelsandseven 7"s out, Magana 12" lathes released

September 16, 2025 by David Norman

Athousandangelsandseven 7” are finally out and they look great! The foldover jacket was a great call. 163 ultra clear and 85 black! Probably CanaDave’s EP of the year!!!

Our next release is the Mourn Recif x A Recorded Dawn split cd /100!!! The always reliable Operation X-Ray premiered one of the A Recorded Dawn tracks which you can scope below, which also includes our November release from Twins.

Click here for the full list of reviews!

We’ve put up the final Nuvolascura restocks for the figment swirl 12” and the cds (single digits of each). Get’em before their gone! Horns Up rightly included ‘How This All Ends’ in their most recent roundup, giving it the props it deserves. Click on the pic above or this text to go to the review. Buy/jam below!

Magana’s '‘Teeth’ released today on Softseed Music! I couldn’t be more excited to be working with Jeni, who has been releasing incredible, witchy, folksy, indie rock for about a decade. This 12” lathe is on 20 black (Softseed edition) and 20 clear (Magana edition) with a few copies now being up in both ZBR stores as well as the Softseed Bandcamp. I can't recommend this California solo project enough. For fans of: Squirrel Flower, Nova One, Laura Stevenson, and Holly Mae Henry.

Bloom Dream ripped the fest apart nice and early, so here’s their video from ZBR Fest 2025. We’ve got one test tape left (linked here) from CanaDave’s personal collection then both runs of cds and both runs of tapes are 100% out. More than half of the individual band videos from ZBR Fest have popped up but there’s a few stragglers still to come, some of which have additional videos that weren’t included in the full fest documentary. You can access more via our Youtube channel. Jam their album below.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: YOUREYESINMINE = Amazing debut EP from Baltimore/Pittsburgh. Huge fan of the atmosphere on this, kinda A Paramount A Love Supreme and part Swan Of Tuonela.
