2026 - 1 - 21 /// Gravess 12"s released!

January 21, 2026 by David Norman

The new Gravess EP ‘losing everything that makes life beautiful’ is out! Only 100 copies were made and we’ve got 30 spread across our three stores. This is a phenomenal EP with some seriously killer tracks. Be sure to check it out and snag one if interested, as I don’t expect them to be around for long!

Coup D’état has a new lyrical music video for “The Cost of Playing It Cool” and it’s dope! Speaking of dope their new EP is just that! Inferior at foosball but top-notch Vancouver Island skramz.

This is a friendly reminder that US out of stock distro is still available in the Canada store, and once shipping is converted the price is within a few dollars of the US store shipping so if you are being hesitant…don’t be! We likely won’t be getting more of these anytime soon so stock up while you can!!!

Raein 7” linked here
La Quiete 7” linked here
Noverte 12” linked here
Only 12” linked here
Tenue 12” linked here (and there’s one tape left below!!!)

Click here for the full list of reviews!

Sear’s new ‘O Merciful’ got some love from No Clean Singing. This band features a member of To Forget and is a wicked combo of screamo, black metal, post hardcore, and condensed doom. Click on the pic above or this text to go to the review. Jam/buy one of the last few 12”s below!

This is the last reminder about the Mourn Recif show coming up this Saturday as it’s our first in nearly 3 months and likely our last show until we get to play ZBR Fest 2026 (oopsie, spoiler!). We’ll have tapes and cds but are definitely almost out of some of the tape variants. Check out a video of a new song below (at the same venue this new show is at!) as we’re playing almost all new material and it’s much heavier than our old stuff.

Operation X-Ray did an extensive roundup of shoegaze releases from the year and two Softseed bands made the cut including Mieke (12”s at the plant) and Bok Suna (12”s linked below).

There is a final copy of Komuso’s final EP ‘Luck Will Be On Your Side This Week’ on 1st press 7” (the ones that were lost in the mail, and we never recouped that $800, this was graciously given to us with the 2nd press by the other label) so consider this your final warning cuz that band is dead and will not be repressed. And that, my friends, is Today’s Last Fucking Copy. Snag now or forever hold your peace.

KOMUSŌ - Luck Will Be On Your Side This Week (7"EP)
from CA$8.00

LAST THREE COPIES!!! Unlikely to be made again!!!!

KOMUSŌ - Luck Will Be On Your Side This Week 7"EP (ZBR130)

For fans of: Yaphet Kotto, Slint and Hue.

Here’s an unreal follow up to the Japanese emo-violence foursome KOMUSŌ’s debut cassette EP, this time housing three songs of much chiller, post-rock and post-hardcore vibes. You’ve got a wicked instrumental jam, a sung lullaby and then a screamy, solo-driven closer. Some of the jammiest and sickest stuff we’ve heard in ages. Featuring members of: Cape Light, 5000, No Omega, Careless, etc.

7" vinyl on black /149 and clear /151 with insert and ZBR sticker. (100 of first press lost by German DHL) This is the second pressing /200, 100 black and the rest a random assortment of colors. Download code included. 3 tracks.

2025 - 11 - 24 /// Softseed Steppin' Up

November 24, 2025 by David Norman

As ZBR sales decline in our current economic slide into the ninth circle of hell, CanaDave must shift a lot of focus to Softseed Music, as things are really heating up over there. Besides landing some incredible artists recently (Smush, Dollie Rot, etc.), 2026 will be even more amazing, and it actually starts December 1st, 2025 with Mercy Necromancy! Full details will be be revealed at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST via Softseed Music!!!

Click here for the full podcast and links!

Speaking of Softseed Music, New Zealand’s Mieke and Softseed are teaming up for ‘Frau Eva’ to get on 12” vinyl. Not sure if there will be a pre-order for it or not, as we’re getting close to ordering but we’ll keep you in the loop. Until then, check out this stellar interview with the artist via the (((((OPENmind/SATURATEDbrain))))) podcast. Lotta great stuff in there including Dave the Elitist Screamo Douchebag. Definitely check it out, as well as her entire discography and other band Wallflower. Everything you need can be accessed by clicking on the pic above or this text.

Bok Suna’s Yuri had a great interview with Heather Lovelady of the Proper Fangirl podcast! Fuck easter, painting eggs that bunnies can’t lay is stupid. Amen, Yuri. Amen.

This Saturday November 29th is the weekend that you can visit and purchase a buncha stuff from CanaDave’s SkramzCave. In short, Dave has accumulated way too many personal items, most of which he has never listened to or played due to the sheer volume of stuff. Some pics of upcoming items can be found in last week’s post and I’ve just stuffed another 10+ more below in the gallery slideshow.

Hetta’s ‘Acetate’ is tracking hard, as it should as it combines the sass of The Blood Brothers, the unpredictability of The Locust, and the weirdness of Usurp Synapse into a completely new and cohesive album. Idioteq.com interviewed the band about their process to get here and it’s a great read. The tapes arrive at ZBR headquarters today so we’ll have pics later this week. Go to the article by clicking on the pic above or this text. Jam/buy below!

Demersal 12”s finished at the plant! They should be here in December!!! Snag a copy as we are only getting 30 and sold half already.

Click here for the full review!

This Noise Is Ours gave the Heaven Through Violence and Rosemary Nods Upon The Grave split some love. We have just a handful of these left and I know Larry is sold out. Don’t sleep on it, the economy is not pushing us toward any represses at the moment! Click on the pic above or this text to go to the review. Listen/buy below.

Oh shit this copy wasn’t up in any store! We don’t have Meth. on Bandcamp as it was a Prosthetic Records release, but we did do the tapes and there’s one gorgeous copy left with a sparkle j-card! I just put it up in the store but the product is embedded below for your convenience, thus making it Today’s Last Fucking Copy. Snag now or forever hold your peace! That top left swirl with the golden line is the exact copy you’ll be buying.

We are elated to bring you the eagerly anticipated and highly incredible debut LP from Chicago’s experimental hardcore/screamo/noise project METH. by way of a cassette version of Prosthetic Records’ 12” vinyl (with alternate artwork and beautiful variants!). These 9 songs span the spectrum of nightmares and do so with equal parts new Daughters and Me And Him Call It Us, creating a truly unique, uncomfortable and intense journey in more than 40 minutes.

1st run: 100 tapes over 3 variants w/j-card. 9 songs.

2025 - 10 - 22 /// Shesmadefromsuede + Coup D'etat release show

October 22, 2025 by David Norman

Mississippi’s Shesmadefromsuede released their first and last album on Tomb Tree and it’s a fucking banger. 5 tracks of screamo/metallic hardcore bliss for fans of Mondrary, Blind Girls, and Grimlitter. Tapes /78 but we sold about half the first day!

Friday is the cd release show for the new Coup D’etat EP where we’ll have copies in hand as well as the ZBR distro. This is also the A Record Dawn/Mourn Recif cd release! So much yummy.

Adobe Homes releases their new 12”LP ‘Años’ November 10th via Zegema Beach and Dog Knights. We did 300 copies with an extra surprise in the packaging, stay tuned for more info, but you can jam a song from the album below!

Click here for the full review!

This Noise Is Ours reviewed the new Nuvolascura album ‘How This All Ends’, which we’ve got like 7 copies left of the OG cd press, as the new/upcoming press are in regular jewel cases so this is the last of the DVD-style case. Jam/buy below or go to the review by clicking on this text or the pic above.

A heads up to all that ordered the Usurp Synapse 2 x 12” and/or cd, here’s the current update:
- 90% of the US store orders have gone out for the 2 x 12”
- bandcamp and Canada/International orders for the 2 x 12” won’t be going out until I get the box from the US, which should be here by the end of Oct, with all copies being out during the first week of November
- no US cd orders have gone out as the cds arrive in the US tomorrow
- all non-US cd orders have gone out!

Thanks for your patience on this, there are literally hundreds of orders and lots of moving parts (including family illness), but we should meet the deadline as we said during the pre-order that they’d ship early/mid-November. Please pick up a copy if you haven’t already! If we do a 2nd run they won’t be with the crazy laser-cut jackets so pick up this version while you can, or pay the dreaded reseller price!

CanaDave co-hosted the always awesome Operation X-Ray radio show! There are three premieres (two of them screamo) and a lotta ridiculous jams in this episode. Thanks so much to Andre for having me!

Oh shiiiiit there are some ZBR Fest video stragglers, so here’s Salvinorin-A and Punxsatuawney at our 2025 fest! There are a handful more videos to post…so until next time!

Holy shit how is there a Boneflower cassette left?!?! That’s right, today’s Last Fucking Copy goes to ‘A(r)mour)’, arguably their strongest album to date (but that new one is pretty sick too). Please take this off my hands (it’s in the bandcamp store embedded below).

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: MOURIR DEMAIN = A new project from Montreal that has some all-stars in it! Wicked emo-violence debut and it’s PWYC on Bandcamp.

2025 - 10 - 10 /// Usurp Synapse releases on Monday!

October 10, 2025 by David Norman

Usurp Synapse’s ‘Disinformation Fix’ releases on 2x12” and cd this Monday October 13th! This has been in the works for quite some time so it’s exciting to finally get these beauts out in the world. We are very, very humbled to have been asked to put out this seminal compilation on wax for the first time ever. Don’t forget the different colored hand-poured vinyl come in a 13-hole laser cut gatefold jacket. The vinyl is /500 and cd is /200. Check out the promo pics above and live video of their Vancouver show below.

Dollie Rot released her first two EPs ‘Survivor’s Guilt’ and ‘Mercy of the Gutter’ on cassette via Softseed Music. This is the first time her material has ended up on physical media and I couldn’t be more stoked on it. Should have some more stuff in the works shortly! You can snag these from the ZBR stores for less than we’re charging on Bandcamp (cuz of the fees).

Congratulations played a reunion show last month and Public Seating took a multi-camera video of the entire set! This band was at the heart of the early ZBR scene in Ontario alongside Foxmoulder and Terry Green. We still have some straggler 12” copies, but the mage and nebula are long sold out.

Click here for the full feature/interview!

Bok Suna received a glowing feature and interview that gestates in the mind like a warm hug. 12”s and tapes available in all stores. A truly awesome bedroom/shoegaze combo unlike no other. Read the interview by clicking on the pic above or this text. Jam/buy below!

An exceptional quote from the interview

Pain has a way of consuming space, but once you transmute it into music, it shifts—it becomes less about what hurt and more about what you did with the hurt. The act of writing reclaims power. It says: this pain didn’t end me, I bent it into sound. That’s the resilience. The song may carry sorrow, but it also carries the proof that I lived through it.

Click here for the full roundup!

Demersal got some love from Rockambula so check that shit out. Unfortunately the plant miffed the tests so it’ll be more like Nov/Dec until we have our 30 copies. We’ll keep you posted though. Click on the pic above or this text for the review. Jam/buy below.

Operation X-Ray played some Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow and Naufraage on this particular episode. The 200th episode is next! Lotta premieres going up on that one.

Okay I think this is the final ZBR Fest video from 2025, and it’s Clay Birds! I’ve got like 1-2 copies left of their ‘A Separation of Vanity’ cassette (and one is an /1!!!). Access that below and watch them kill it live above.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: NICOLE DOLLANGANGER = Yesterday a 10-year anniversary edition of ‘Natural Born Losers’ was released for pre-order over 72 hours by Vertigo Vinyl. This album changed my life and has led to Softseed Music searching for this style of music almost exclusively, so this is the hardest of recommends.

2025 - 09 - 23 /// Mourn Recif x A Recorded Dawn released

September 23, 2025 by David Norman

The Mourn Recif x A Recorded Dawn split (also known around here as the ‘Josh split’) was released yesterday with the cds arriving today! Please take a listen and if you like what you hear snag a copy, as ZBR only has 25! Vancouver Island pinball skramz, baby.

Next up is the Demersal self-titled 12”EP releasing this Friday on Tomb Tree! Pre-orders will be going up, should ship in November.

Click here for the full review!

Mourn Recif got a nice write-up from the always reliable This Noise Is Ours. The band is playing with A Recorded Dawn and Coup D’etat on October 24th in Victoria, making it essentially a triple-ZBR release show! Click on the pic above or this text for the review, jam/buy the EP tapes below.

Nuvolascura continues to embrace all that love they’re getting for a groundbreaking third full length ‘How This All Ends’. Our final copies are up in the stores, get’em or forever hold your peace. That being said, we’ve got another run of cds coming in a jewel case instead of dvd case. Lastly, above is a great interview with the band and below is the album with links and whatnot.

Operation X-Ray ran with a record-tying four band on this episode, including the premiere of “Twelves” by Mourn Recif, a couple of Abandoncy jams, Athousandangelsandseven cuz of dem 7”s, and a new Demersal jam which comes out in full on Friday!!!

The Names Of Our Friends lived up to the hype and tore through their set with abandon. We were lucky enough to snag some 10”s of that beast, too. There’s just a few of the individual band videos from ZBR Fest left. You can access more via our Youtube channel. Snag the last of our 10”s by clicking on this text.

Click here for the full review!

Bok Suna got some love from The Bad Copy, and if you haven’t scoped this phenomenal sophomore album from Seattle/Tacoma’s best kept secret then I’ve gotta say, ya fuckin’ up. Click on the pic above or this text to go to the review. Jam/buy below.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: BACKYARD CAMPING = My boy Mathew from Athousandangelsandseven sent me his high school band. It’s fucking awesome. Check it!
