Malevich absolutely ruined CanaDave at the 2019 fest so it was a no-brainer to bring those fine lads back. We will continue posting the single videos for each band that played the last day of ZBR Fest 2023 in the order that they played, so there’s more coming!

2023 - 04 - 26 /// Carrion Spring falls :(

To those who know vocalist Adam in Carrion Spring this probably comes as little surprise, but the band has had to pull out of this year’s fest due to the health issues and the fact that the band was unable to practice for over a month. We are super sad but completely understand their circumstances and hope we can bring them to Chicago in the future <3 <3 <3

We’ve had some requests already to replace them, but as the day was actually overbooked this unfortunate circumstance has a silver lining where we now have the “correct” amount of bands. Thanks to anyone who inquired about playing, it’s an incredible reception this year. We are so fucking stoked.

Scenario is selling so fast we had to replenish the Canada/International store and it’s already back down to a single copy! Once they play ZBR Fest I fear all the labels and the band might sell out, they’re that good!!! Stereogum figured it out too, so click on this text or the pic above to go to their article.

Apostles Of Eris is set to play their first show in 7 fucking years, and the first as a full band. We’ll be performing “Pig Donovan” from this split that was just smeared across all platforms. A little late? You betcha!

Sometime in the mid-2000s David Norman came across the band LOFTUS and their immortal cd ‘Hugs and Drugs’. Hmmm… that isn’t really strong enough. David Norman became utterly obsessed with the California five-piece. And guess what? It never stopped, subsided, slowed, or even flickered. To this day the obsession continues on 500 stunning 12” records by Zegema Beach Records which release on Friday May 13th, 2022. Myspace madness, metallic hardcore style for fans of panic chords, breakdowns, and unrelenting screams. The new ‘A Collection of Highly Unlikely Collaborations‘ cassette EP just released in full via Tomb Tree. Featuring vocals from Lypurá, Nistikko, Mustasuo, Warren of Ohms, Burial Etiquette, meißel, In Wolves' Clothing, Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow, and Letterbombs! 2021 - 12 - 30 /// Tons of fun

So what is actually going on here? Well…

The final Meditations 4-way split 7” in the series of 5 ‘Understanding’ released on the 27th with new flames from Malevich, R. Josef, Heel Turn and Wanderer. The physicals are expected early 2022 and are out of 500 instead of 600! Linked here!!!

Today? Well there are two things, actually.
1) A sick Tomb Tree Tapes release for an awesome Australian screamo/math-rock/post-hardcore band called Hanoi Traffic is set for 9am PST on the 30th. Only 57 copies were made of this incredibly overlooked 2021 release.

2) My new label Softseed Music is releasing its first album today via Ontario’s Opheliac aka Ophelia from Burial Etiquette. It’s incredible synth-wave/acoustic stuff for fans of Grouper, Grimes, Nicole Dollanganger, Boards Of Canada, etc. The digitals and tape pre-orders are done exclusively through bandcamp, but once we actually have the cassettes we’ll put the remainder up in the two ZBR stores. As it will be for all Softseed Music releases. Release linked here!

What’s happening the day after? Zampler. Fucking Zampler, yo. 10 brand spankin’ new tracks and 27 previously released bangers!

The following day? Ditch Organ on Tomb Tree.

And after that? Break. No shipping/no posts from January 3rd-16th.

Woah! Pretty busy much? Mhmm. Lots of shit goin’ down:

1) Fear Before The March Of Flames tapes are officially out on Tomb Tree Tapes (which we carry) and the cassettes came in, are dipped, and just need to be stamped. There are a few ooooovvvvveeeerrrrsssss…

2) Vientre/Tolls split cassette is also out and shipping in the Tomb Tree Tapes section of our store (or the U.S. site in general)

3) Meditations #5 ‘Understanding’ was revealed a few days back and the Malevich track is available to stream/die to. Full release happens in December.

4) Yarmulke ‘The Completed Discography’ double-cassettes are now out. We are already down to our last copies so don’t wait!
