2026 - 9 - 29 /// Ghola is out, Nhomme is next!

September 29, 2026 by David Norman

Ghola is out! This supergroup features members of Lord Snow, Stormlight, Crowning, Iwan, Oaktails, and Frail Body to name just a few, and we’ve got random colored 12”s as well as digipak CDs. The U.S. store at Persistent Vision Records is also live so if you’re in the US you can snag one there.

Nhomme has an upcoming show with Raein and Sans Visage in Japan, and as we’ve been sold out for a hot minute, it seems pretty smart to make more tapes. So we did! And they release next!!! Yep, October 2nd at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST we’ll have just 25 copies of the 150 copies of the third run, as the band obviously needs them for their live shows (which are insane, thanks youtube). Check the music video above to see how the packaging and below I have one copy of the 2nd press left that I recently came across.

NHOMME ‘種の過音‘ tape (ZBR314)

For fans of: Yarmulke, Hella, Sans Visage, Gauge Means Nothings, Nitro Mega Prayer, and 1000 Travels Of Jawaharlal

If you were worried that screamo was becoming stagnant or overly conventional then we present to you the new 3-song EP from Japan’s NHOMME. This new set of songs sets a very high bar for mathy/jazzy screamo with an emphasis on clean guitars, wild bass, playful drums, super high-pitched vocals, and dynamically mindboggling song structures. Not only is the music jaw-dropping, but the band created a music video showing the process used to make the cassette packaging (linked here) for the second track from this release. As a final cherry on top the tapes all come swirled, and in the rarer cases in swirled bags. Truly a one-of-a-kind release.

Cassettes 1st run: /146, 87 on black/white sparkle swirl (band edition), 44 pink swirl swirl (ZBR edition), 10 black/orange swirl in a swirled bag, and 5 test dips w/matching swirl case and swirled bag.

2nd run: /152, 95 on white/black sparkle swirl (band edition), 40 multi-color swirl, 10 purple sparkle swirl, 5 bandcamp to-go bag swirl, 4 test dips with matching swirl case, and 3 clear.

3rd run: /157, 72 swirl, 60 white, 20 halfsies, and 5 test dips w/matching swirl case.

All tapes come in a clear/clear norelco case w/two-sided j-card and o-slipcover, all screened on recycled paper made by the band. 3 songs.

Softseed Music is quietly handling vinyl behind the scenes for Smush and their ‘Standards’ 12”EP and ‘i’ll always wish,,’ 12”LP. The former should release in November while the latter drops January 22nd but I should have both in hand before the end of 2026. Flood Magazine recently premiered their new song/video “Milkweed Butterfly” and you need to check it out because it’s probably the band’s best song to date. And yes, I know how incredible “Goodnight Moon” is. Scope the video above, the premiere by clicking on this text, and their debut LP that I helped release a few years back below.

‘Leaving’ by Corey Cash & Chuka Stergios turns one year old today! This Softseed Music release is still one of my faves and it just fell into my lap, which isn’t usually how Softseed works! Just gorgeous stuff, but by the playful acoustic guitar and angelic vocals.

Click here for the full premiere!

My OMSB blog recently premiered a track by Shouldered which features members of Frail Body and Lower Automation! Scope “Scarecrow” below or click above for a more extensive premiere alongside some links.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: WELLNESS = This album is finally out and it features sick songs by sick people from a buncha sick bands. Sick.

November 17, 2025 by David Norman

Alright as of today pretty much every Usurp Synapse pre-order goes out the door, with most other orders also being in transit (save 60 in the US store). Thanks for bearing with us, we had a lot going on (not just with the labels) so your patience and support are greatly appreciated!

In other big news we highly recommend that you sign up for our ZBR newsletter by emailing us at zegemabeachrecords@gmail.com with “ZBR EMAIL LIST plz” as the subject. We’ll start spitting stuff out monthly at the least starting sometime in December.

Softseed Music just released the debut ‘Leaving’ by Corey Cash & Chuka Stergios. The crushingly honest and beautiful vocals layered over gorgeous acoustic guitar is apparent right from the title-track opener - these songs will both comfort and mesmerize with equally angelic and playful elements. Pressing on 26 cassettes: 11 blue swirl, 5 orange, 5 orange swirl, and 5 test dips w/matching swirl case. For fans of: Grouper, Saram12Saram, Mieke, and Magana. 8 tracks. Features members of Bubble Scary.

Inosuke were interviewed by Cinepunx so be sure you scope that. Lotta really good questions and thoughtful answers. We only took 50 of these records (25 of each variant) and both are already more than half gone! Features our friends Jason and Erik from a buncha sick projects such as Locktender, Men As Trees, Lautrec, and Stormlight just to name a few! Click on the pic above or this text to go to the interview.

Tomb Tree’s Naufraage and Softseed’s Fainting Dreams made the Noise of October 2025 round-up by the always reliable Everything Is Noise. I was personally turned onto Silvana Estrada and Hilary Woods, and reminded about the Rolo Tomassi and Agriculture, all of which I snagged. Click on the pic above or this text to go to the full list.

Hetta’s mind-melting full length is out in just a few days and it’s going to floor you. Some seriously batshit stuff that fans of Usurp Synapse, The Locust, Missouri Executive Order 44, and Blood Brothers will surely drool over. You can scope a few jams on their bandcamp page as well as a premiere/review from Lovers And Lollypops by clicking on the pic above or this text. Tomb Tree is dropping 40 of these tapes on November 21st at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST!

Today’s Last Fucking Copy is Lower Automation’s self-titled album on cassette test dip! It’s actually a Tomb Tree release too which they did the tapes for (with alternate artwork). I had to post the session that US Dave did with the band where they played this album in full…it’s amazing, especially if you watch the full thing and see how the editing gets more and more fucked with. If you want it you can grab this historic brain slap from the ZBR Bandcamp page embedded below. Snag now or forever hold your peace! P.S. Derek and Brian have a new project coming out later this year or early 2026 so keep an ear out.

Operation X-Ray’s 204th episode features the incredible Lucertulas as well as our very own Jota, Inosuke, and Hetta!
