2023 - 02 - 14 /// Nhomme out, here's what's next

February 14, 2023 by David Norman

Two primary things in this post: first is the upcoming Greed Worm and Blackwater Sniper split cassette that we did special clear dvd-style cases with two-sided covers that double as lyric/credit inserts. The full release goes up on Tomb Tree’s bandcamp this Thursday along with these tapes. The previous/debut Greed Worm EP is long sold out and we won’t have many copies of this new split as the band’s will be selling most of them at shows. Thursday! 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST!!!

Second is the Nhomme release which happened yesterday. I’m not blind. I saw the posts. People definitely picked up on how ridiculously impressive this EP, and sales supported this. If you’re interested that’s a hard recommend as no way these tapes don’t disappear soon, we sold about 70% in the first 24 hours and I know there’s at least one distro looking for 5-10 copies so these might be sold out any day now! If you need further glowing reviews check out the Borderline Fuckup post, it’s spot on. And linked to this text!

Today’s Hiding In the Outpost (aka our last copy of something):

Talk about perfect timing, we’re down to our final King Slender ‘EP2’ cassette! Right after the band’s debut 12”LP release. Way to go fellas! Last copy. Listen to it here.

now sold out:
Alas 12”
Eyelet new 12”
Sore Eyelids 12”

KING SLENDER - 'King Slender' cassette
released November 2017

ffo: Wolves, Daniel Striped Tiger and Secret Smoker

Tight as fuck hardcore punk with strong leanings towards emotive hardcore and I guess therefore screamo. Desperate yells, driving drums, rolling bass and intricate guitar riffs envelop all four songs in late 90s emo.

50 smokey metallic tapes with j-card in a resealable plastic bag. 4 songs.

Revolutions Per Mile stepped into a half-decade time machine jumper and went back to review the SeeYouSpaceCowboy and Secondgradeknifefight split 7”. Their label asked us to remove it from our bandcamp but noticed that all the other labels still have it up. Ah well. Click on this text or the pic below to go to the review.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: A NEEDLE UNDER THE NAIL = I’m usually good with checking out every Wax Vessel release, but something happened and I missed this one only to have it recommended to me by none other than Nik The WV himself. Oh my god he was right. This double-EP compilation is bonkers good.

2023 - 02 - 07 /// Nhomme is coming

February 07, 2023 by David Norman

Nhomme is coming and you aren’t ready. I thought I was ready when it was sent to me, but I wasn’t. It’s so good. It’s so jazzy, obtuse, and unique. Never have I heard screamo so infused with jazz, post-rock, prog, general experimental rock, and it is sensational to boot. Monday February 13th we will release the cassette (in conjunction with Nhomme in Japan) across 146 cassettes but we’ll only be stocking about 40 as the band has the rest. Are they expensive? You betcha. Why? Good question! The short answer is initial shell issues, paints out of stock, shipping from and to Japan, ridiculously cool O-card slips, everything’s printed on very special paper, swirled bags, etc. so we’re looking at about $15-$20US but by golly it’s so worth it. We’ll get some promo pics up on Thursday :)

Embedded below is the track on a 4-way split cd (we have one in stock here!!!) that I first heard a few years back and initiated my love for the band and prompted me to email them about future material that has led us to this new release. Truly next level shit.

My Hair Is A Rat’s Nest released in full yesterday and we moved half of the tapes in the first 12 hours. The last release sold steadily until it was out and I predict this will do the same. You have 1-3 months, I reckon. Also, I didn’t even see this post initially but Stereogum caught wind of its release a few days back and posted about it so click on this text to go to said link.

As Nuvolascura continues to play shows we continue to sell their stuff. We are ridiculously low on everything Nuvo though, as all vinyl is out of stock and now the new album ‘As We Suffer From Memory and Imagination’ is now down to the final cassette and it’s a sexy prism swirl. After that we’ve got about 4 S/T tapes left and then that’s all she wrote! Listen to it here.

This Noise Is Ours did another in the ZBR Roster Review series, unfortunately this stellar split 7” between Coma Regalia and Drei Affen are sold out in our stores and from Middle Man too, so I reckon everyone is probably out by now. We’ve released three things by Drei Affen now and every single one is sold out. If we get another release, take this as a guarantee that whatever it is won’t last long and you should hop on it. Click on this text to go to the review.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: KING SLENDER = This band released on ZBR about 250 releases ago and finally came out with their debut LP and it’s feckin’ sick.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: THE SAWTOOTH GRIN = We were lucky enough to distro the ‘Cuddlemonster’ 12” when it came out back in 2020 on vinyl, and yesterday the band released their first new material in about 15 years! It’s uhhhhhh good to say the least.
