Ghola 12"LP releases on Monday!

September 24, 2026 by David Norman

Monterey’s debut 12”LP ‘It Always Passes Over Me’ is out and turning a lotta heads. A truly fantastic album, there’s so much variety and unique things happening on here that I could compare parts to bands like Brahm and Beau Navire to City Of Caterpillar and even Concealer. Whether it’s lightning screamo, post-rock/screamo, emo, or crunchy metallic hardcore, this band has you covered like it’s their day job cuz they pulled this off like it’s their fourth album, not their first.

Ghola’s debut 12”LP ‘Aeon’ is next and releases Monday September 28th! Oooo baby, so close. These are also in hand and sound amazing. This supergroup features members of Lord Snow, Stormlight, Crowning, Iwan, Oaktails, and Frail Body to name just a few! Music video above, bandcamp/digital pre-order below.

Operation X-Ray is on their game as usual, this time playing Monterey, Ghola, and All That’s Left Of You. Thanks Andre!!!

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: COMPUTER SCIENCE = The Quebec band has so much flavor it’s basically a spice! Track 2 is phenomenal.

Nuvolascura cds are sold out and the “Linear half’n’half” is also out of stock. “Figment swirl” is all that remains. Rockambula gave it a stellar review which you can read by clicking on the pic above or this text. Snag those last few copies now!

Trei Campbell from Iwrotehaikusaboutcannibalisminyouryearbook, Beau Navire, Elle, Vowels, and Xochtil came on the OMSB podcast for his first solo interview, and I couldn’t be more honored. Click on the pic above or this text for the full post with links, info, etc. or just listen/download below.

Avery Friedman released a live studio session for the song “New Thing” and you should definitely check it out. We’ve been talking to the plant about the 12” run, and they are behind as they’re waiting on the lacquer. We’ll keep you posted but hopefully they’ll be in-hand early August. Fingers crossed!

Emma Core & Co. gave a ripping review of Emma Goldman’s ‘all you are is we’. If we aren’t 100% sold out you need to run to the US store and snag one immediately. Click on the pic above or this text to go to the review. Buy/stream below!

Dead Hour Noise are on tour! We’ve got just a handful of 12”s left and post-tour I reckon the band’ll be gettin’ low too!

Operation X-Ray played some bangers as per usual, including our very own Nuvolascura as well as Bok Suna, the latter of which Softseed Music has advance copy tapes for sale now via the bandcamp link below.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: xMISERYISABUTTERFLYx = The ultimate homies in Smush showed me this band. Very good screamo!

Sutras got their second (of three) song premieres via Everything Is Noise for “Karma to Burn”. Their new six-song EP ‘The Crisis of Existence’ releases in full on April 16th!!! This epic Emma Goldman show is going down tomorrow and CanaDave will be there slingin’ records, including the one and only test press available to the public. Got $50? It’s yours. Also, Mourn Recif is playing and we’re closing with our brand new jam and it goes harder than anything we’ve ever played.

Lord Wrought’s ‘Mortis’ EP releases on Tomb Tree this Tuesday April 8th at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST on a small run of 54 gorgeous cassettes. This Vancouver-based hardcore/grind/metalcore/screamo crossover blew me away live so picking up the pressing from Yetzer Hara Records who has moved into a specific straight-edge hardcore pocket after a brief hiatus.

Dead Hour Noise got the This Noise Is Ours treatment in a wicked track-by-track review post. We expect these 12”s in sometime this month so we’ll be posting promos as soon as we have’em, but pre-orders are up now if you can’t wait! Click on the pic above or this text to go to the review.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: BOON = Incredible new stuff from Toronto that I heard only because a member shot it over. Wicked!!!

Ashen Hands from Italy have a new EP coming out Tuesday March 12th on Tomb Tree! I’m telling you this thing is fucking amazing and gonna blow you outta the water. Sassy, volatile and raging metallic hardcore from Michigan-based DEAD HOUR NOISE. 11 tracks of mayhem by a very talented three-piece who hit the ground running back in 2014. Their latest LP ‘Sleeping Dogs’ ties together the sassiness and unpredictability of Every Time I Die’s ‘Hot Damn’ with the confidence and Botchiness of Von Wolfe. Every song is a banger, so don’t miss out. Released on gorgeous swirl cassettes by Tomb Tree Tapes.

Tapes /108, 50 white, 26 on transparent orange/black swirl and 26 on opaque orange/black/yellow swirl. Comes with download code. 11 songs.

You kept asking so we’ll just keep making these Febuary cds until demand dies down. First run was 100 and they lasted 10 minutes. Second run was 200 and those lasted 15 minutes. So we did 300 this time, and assume they’ll last 20 minutes? Hopefully longer but we make no promises. Easily one of the best releases of 2024 and one that’ll be talked about for ages. Sunday March 9th at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST.

Bloom Dream’s tour starts on March 10th and you better believe we sold the fuck outta those cds and first run of tapes so we did 100 more to help the band out on tour. This 2nd run features some swirl variants (the 1st did not) and they go up for sale on Tuesday March 11th at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST. Breakdown is: 35 white, 30 random swirl, 30 sparkle swirl, 5 test dips, and 2 bullet-hole swirl.

Tomb Tree is set to release the debut Satsuma EP ‘this is my outside voice’ on cassette March 28th! This new Michigan-based band features Dan from The Reptilian and Seventeen Again making a mighty screamo comeback. This set of songs is fantastic and for fans of The Caution Children, Osceola, Hawak, etc. Click on the pic above or this text to go to the premiere and jam “Calderone” as well as get some backstory on the band and the song.

Sleep // Process had their first song premiered by Not Just A Phase before their debut release. Middle Man will be doing cds and we’ll have tapes, but as we haven’t been able to order the tapes yet I don’t think they will be up for sale until a month or so after the March 18th release. Fingers crossed! Click on the pic above or this text to go to the premiere.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: CROSSED = This Spanish band’s new album releases March 21st, but we can’t put up our copies as we don’t know how much they’ll cost after shipping. You can jam some songs on their bandcamp now, but if you’re in North America please don’t cave to the pressure and buy international, we’ll have them up on the release date of March 21st as we should know our actual cost by then.
