2026 - 6 - 23 /// Mal Criado released + t-shirts on sale!

Well hot damn it must be summer. I looked in my closet a few weeks back and noticed I had almost 150 t-shirts. Seems like too many, right? Owning labels and doing distro and festivals generally sees me buying and being gifted shirts on a near monthly basis. I decided to thin it out to 50 shirts so here’s the first (major) batch of stuff that has been worn generally zero to 5 times (with a few being mainstays till I put on too much weight) and are all in very good to incredible condition AND they are super cheap (unless they’re super rare, but even then they are about the OG listing price).

There will be another sale next Friday when I go through on a final run inside my packed closet and part with my final 30 and get that thing down to a reasonable 45 shirts for myself.

A friends reminder that although the US store has temporarily closed, people in the U.S.A. can still order from our bandcamp and Canada store (I ship very quickly and include a bunch of free download codes), as shipping is quite cheap as after the exchange rate you’re looking at approximately:

Mal Criado’s ‘Ni Todo La Tierra Entera’ released this past Friday on Tomb Tree! The 13 jams exude anger, dissatisfaction, and inequality at the horseshit system in place, all wrapped in a nasty powerviolence tortilla. Mmmm, so good!

Orphan Donor’s recent album ‘Ailments’ continues to ruin brains around the globe. The always reliable Everything Is Noise gave an excellent review, so check that out and snag a cd while you’re at it. On this record, Orphan Donor is a heaving, lumbering lump of organic sound matter, moving along like a giant deformed creature floating down a river of molten lava. And that perfect mental image owes a huge deal to James Revelle, the artist responsible for the band’s unique visual identity since 2020. Think Mike Diana on a bad acid trip; not the go-to art direction for a self prescribed skramz band, but nothing that Orphan Donor does is run of the mill.

For a few years I had the idea of doing the Eight Feet Under split series. It would contain bands from four countries, be two bands from each country, thus totaling eight bands over two 12”s, each supplying an EPs worth of material. The first one was fucking amazing, but the second installment had some bands drop and I just kinda axed it. Truly a bummer. I do have one last copy of the first and only edition of this series which contains Vi Som Alskade Varandra Sa Mycket, Via Fondo, Sleeper Wave, Youth Novel, The World That Summer, Nous Etions, Lamantide, and Pastel - thus making it today’s Last Fucking Copy! Hello friends! We’ve got some huge changeups happening at ZBR as we lead into summer, and things will never be same. What’s the news? You’ll see, but we can definitely call it the next chapter of Zegema Beach Records.

Until then check out Orphan Donor and I.O. both of which released in the last week.

I.O. just released ‘The Beatniks Couldn’t Save The World’ which is Max from Wollruss and Pet Retina, and is an absolute beast of drummer. This release has him coupled with long-time collaborator JP who weaves an intricate web of poetry amidst the chaos. Truly incredible stuff! Tomb Tree made tapes for this but out of 200 copies we’ve only got 30 as this guy tour relentlessly…and is actually on tour right now!

I knew Fingerswoventogether were sick cuz their first EP was awesome but the new EP is phenomenal - but at ZBR Fest I puked my brain outta my mouth. Insane shit. So fucking good. Etc. Larry Records is out of the 10”, we’re down to less than 10 copies, and Severed Records should have some too.

On the most recent Operation X-Ray played new Orphan Donor and Fingerswoventogether, both of which are the two releases flying out of our stores so snag those soon or it’ll be too late.

Carrion Spring released on Friday in all its glory! Years and years of friendship, planning, recording, life, and a whole lot more went into this phenomenal full length ‘Those We’ve Lost and Continue to Lose’ which was recorded by Kurt Ballou at Atomic Garden Studios! Also this week, there’s a new distro drop on Wednesday that will include some key Dog Knights releases (Journal, Beau Navire, State Faults, etc.) then a Concealer 12” pre-order on Friday…what a week!

Today’s ZBR Fest 2026 Profile Feature is for Csilla’s Star Is Gone which features members of Coup D’etat, A Recorded Dawn, Mourn Recif, Wollruss, Bathtub Autopsy, and Hospice (to name a few lol) so there’s probably no better way to open ZBR Fest 2026 at the pre-show on May 1st, 2026 at Big Fernwood in Victoria on Vancouver Island. I saw them play their first show this past weekend and it was badass. They are the fist band in the video below, but you can also scope A Recorded Dawn and Hillsboro who are also playing the fest! Oh my god the day is finally here! Another decade-plus release is down to it’s last copy!!! This Montreal band ended up creating Yearning and Carcajou, two bands that ZBR are big fans of, but this release is more like Envy, Sed Non Satiata, and Amanda Woodward. New Zealand’s Mieke released the incredible ‘Frau Eva’ in August of 2025 and Softeed Music was all over that, so they’ve got some “funfetti cake edition” 12”LPs that should be shipping in late April. If you like grungy-yet-beautiful shoegaze mixed with minimal ethereal singer/songwriter material.

Oh and in uhhhhh…completely unrelated news, we’ll be posting the ZBR Fest tickets next week! We’ll have the tickets up for the two-day fest on May 2nd and 3rd in Vancouver at Red Gate, with the May 1st pre-show following the week after.

Today you can get a sneak peak at the all-star release from Biological Fathers coming out in full this Sunday, as the band just put up the opener “Caddy”. ZBR had cds for the full release this Super Bowl Sunday at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST. These three songs are phenomenal and feature members from Frail Body, Crowning, New Grass, Eyelet, and Majorel! Holy fuck!!!

Clout Funeral’s new EP ‘For Pepper…’ releases on Monday via Tomb Tree! This thing is wicked and honestly sounds a lot like it was written 25 years ago, giving it a huge throwback feel whilst incorporating their own unique spin on it. We made a buncha tapes but with most going to the band we’ll only be keeping 25 so be sure to check it out upon its release! 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST…you know the drill.
