2024 - 01 - 16 /// OFIAAS is out, Edhochuli single, Llewelyn music video

January 16, 2024 by David Norman

Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow’s debut 12” ‘LP’ is officially out and making the rounds. It’s on Bandcamp right now with Spotify and all other platforms on January 20th. You can snag a black vinyl /100 if you dig the songs, and it comes with an insert so you can find out what the hell we’re all screamin’ about. Not Just A Phase gave a very awesome review which you can check out by clicking on this text or the pic below.

Edhochuli’s new single is out! Playing off the “Totally Caveman” title, “Questionably Paleo, Incontrovertibly Neanderthal” is a seven-minute romp through treacherous rock’n’roll mixed with hardcore and screamo. It’s a fantastic time that you can purchase in full February 12th on 12”!

Llewelyn released ‘Disposable Culture’ late last year on Tomb Tree and they recently released an official music video for the title track. Watch it above and jam/buy the EP below!

Tomb Tree will be dropping the Carrion Spring cassettes for ‘How It All Falls Away Petal By Petal’ tomorrow aka Wednesday January 17th at 9am PST / 11am CST /12pm EST. Above is the primary variant /60 reveal! Jam/download below :) Catch’em at ZBR Fest 2024!!!

Inosuke 12”s just came in, we’ll have pics shortly and start shipping later this week/next week. Bandcamp/Canada store orders will take an extra week whilst the US Store ships them to Canada. This Noise Is Ours gave them an excellent review that you can read by clicking on this text or the pic above. Jam/buy below!

Mathcore Index did their list of best stuff from 2023 and our Euclid C Finder (obviously) made the list, along with Closet Witch’s sensational return, Telos’ ‘Delude’ and the In Loving Memory EP ‘A Gentler Sun’. Click on this text or the pic above to go to the full lists.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: KNUMEARS = When this band releases a new album we’ll all lose our minds. So good! (pronounced “NUM-ears”)

2024 - 01 - 08 /// VS Self's Closet Witch Future...Ed

January 08, 2024 by David Norman

Okay lotsa stuff going on in January, here’s the schedule for the next week:
Monday = Closet Witch music video
Tuesday = Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow music video
Wednesday = Carrion Spring tape promo pics
Thursday = Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow cover/tracklist
Friday = ZBR Fest 2024 Wave #3
Saturday = Tristan Tzara ‘Discography’ digital release
Monday = Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow ‘LP’ 12” release
Tuesday = Edhochuli single

This past Saturday we released the VS Self tapes with the Canada/International store and Bandcamp pages being gutted almost immediately. The US store still has a fair amount of copies so snag some from there! All links are available through our Bandcamp page embedded below.

There was another Closet Witch music video, this new one features a bunch of live footage over the song “Constantly Problematic”. It’s less than a minute of your time and ‘Chiaroscuro’ was on almost every grind/screamo list that we saw, so feel free to pick up a copy below.

Not Just A Phase helped us out again with the Spotify playlist, so check it out below if you want the heftiest dose of ZBR on the internet. Click on this text or the pic above to go to the playlist.

No Heirloom got some much deserved love on Stereogum. We’re running low on these beauties /50 so hop on it! Click on this text or the pic above for the review, jam it below.

Operation X-Ray did an amazing job with their Best Of Screamo/Skramz 2023 and features a ton of artists, including a hefty handfull of our own. Jam it below (noise rock stuff is first, screamo is a little past halfway thru).

Blind Girls ‘Residue’ is on the heels of a repress from No Funeral (we got some copies too) on the This Noise Is Ours Zegema Beach Roster Review series. We still have some copies of the follow-up ‘The Weight is Everything’. Click on this text or the pic above to go to the review, jam it below!

Othiel’s debut 12”LP ‘We Will Be Our Home’ keeps getting love and moving out of our store. I wouldn’t expect us to have any copies left when they play ZBR Fest 2024. Woot! Click on this text or the pic above for the review. Jam/buy below.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: THIN = Incredible mathcore/grindcore/screamo for those who want it totally nuts.

2023 - 10 - 10 /// New Closet Witch song!

October 10, 2023 by David Norman

Today we revealed the first single from Closet Witch’s new album ‘Chiaroscuro’. There will be a music video releasing next week along with 12” pre-orders on October 16th. The full release is November 3rd. This thing is MENACING, to say the least. Jam it and pre-order the digitals below!

The One Who Became Many - A Tribute to Coma Regalia released yesterday with overwhelming love and support for Edie and gang. Please consider donating on bandcamp if you can’t purchase a tape, as the digital sales for the next 30 days will go to Coma Regalia and Edie’s family.

CanaDave chatted with the dudes in Onewaymirror via his (((((OPENmind/SATURATEDbrain))))) podcast. Their self-titled full length releases at the stroke of midnight! You can find it from our more responsible half, Tomb Tree. Click on this text or the picture above to go to the full post, or jam the single below.

Riversleem got a sick review from Moshpit Nation. The Canadian copies are already all gone and only the U.S. store copies remain! Click on the picture above or this text for the review, and you can jam the EP below.

Niboowin was discussed in the latest Ninehertz Podcast to glowing reviews. Really dig this podcast, they know their stuff!

2023 - 09 - 04 /// Places of Screamo

September 04, 2023 by David Norman

With US Dave being on tour with Crowning last/this week it’ll be a bit slow until September 13th when three things happen in the span of three days. In the meantime please check out our stores, bandcamp, youtube videos, etc. and also check out some more places for screamo…especially if you are in a band! My boy Jesse Mowery and I will be on it covering Union Of Uranus! The following message is from Edie of Middle Man Records / Coma Regalia:

Hey! If you have ever wanted to be a part of one of the grave, neighbors Halloween cover compilations that I do, this may be your last chance. To be honest each year it’s getting more and more difficult to get people to submit. Last year, some friends came through at the last minute and help me wrangle up some more songs, but this year it’s starting to look like i’ll have to do a bunch myself if I want to make a decent size compilation out of it. Anyway, if you have an unreleased recording of a cover song or would like to do one and can submit it by October 1, Let me know. I would love to continue doing this but if there’s no interest maybe I should just let it go.

Hit them up here: middlemanrecords@gmail.com

Speaking of screamo hubs, CanaDave recently did a podcast with Sascha of Twin Cities Screamo aka the best place to find screamo on the internet. It’s a facebook group and I’ve linked it here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/314579255748542

Click for the full post!

As stated US Dave is kicking ass around the East of US for the next two nights. If you are within a few hours drive of those cities, have transportation, and don’t work/go to school, I like…recommend those shows. A lot. Like…don’t, y’know, miss out on something you may never ever get witness again.

Social Caterpillar begins their cycle into the new 12”LP ‘Alphabet Crown’ with the release of the first single Smells Like Middle-Aged Apathy. Jam that sucker below and check back on Friday over at Idiot.com for the music video premiere!!! Oh Softseed Music still have tapes of their previous endeavor to purchase so click here to listen/buy.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: GUILT = This new band’s demo is sick and you can bet there’ll be some people counting down the days until their next proper release.

2023 - 09 - 01 /// Weekend Updates

September 01, 2023 by David Norman

Crowning ‘Survival Sickness + Friends’ 12” sold out in like 30 minutes! Fret not, for we only had 35% of the pressing! That means there are 65 copies (minus whatever sold in Cleveland last night) pingin’ around the Eastern U.S.A.. If you are a few hours out and have a means of transportation then snagging one is very much in your grasp. Catch the homies/the bafoons on tour with Niboowin now!

Speaking of tours, Hexis is coming to North America again and dropping by Victoria for their 2nd show of the tour and CanaDave is putting it on! Not only that, but we were able to secure Jisei to open the early/fast night! Music starts at 7pm sharp on September 23rd at Victoria Events Centre. Click on the picture above for tickets or this text for the facebook event page. Poster by Alexis <3

Mexico’s Satón and their fiery new full length ‘a la espera del momento’ releases on October 6th, 2023 and here’s a reveal of the freakin’ most excellent cover. Jam the music videos below and be on the lookout for another new jam next Friday!

Social Caterpillar’s first official single from ‘Alphabet Crown’ is premiering over at (((((OPENmind/SATURATEDbrain))))). If you missed their last record, you are missing out. Beautifully orchestrated folksy indie rock from members of Scowler, Alta, and The Great Redneck Hope. A music video for this song will be released next week via Idioteq.com and the full album comes out October 7th, 2023 on Softseed Music via tapes and 12”s. Click on the picture above or this text to go to the full premiere with lots of additional text from the band.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: No band today, just the entire battle set including encore from ZBR Fest 2023 between Crowning and Eyelet on May 5th at Empty Bliss. Hot. Loud. Amazing.
