2021 - 12 - 30 /// Tons of fun

December 30, 2021 by David Norman

So what is actually going on here? Well…

The final Meditations 4-way split 7” in the series of 5 ‘Understanding’ released on the 27th with new flames from Malevich, R. Josef, Heel Turn and Wanderer. The physicals are expected early 2022 and are out of 500 instead of 600! Linked here!!!

Today? Well there are two things, actually.
1) A sick Tomb Tree Tapes release for an awesome Australian screamo/math-rock/post-hardcore band called Hanoi Traffic is set for 9am PST on the 30th. Only 57 copies were made of this incredibly overlooked 2021 release.

2) My new label Softseed Music is releasing its first album today via Ontario’s Opheliac aka Ophelia from Burial Etiquette. It’s incredible synth-wave/acoustic stuff for fans of Grouper, Grimes, Nicole Dollanganger, Boards Of Canada, etc. The digitals and tape pre-orders are done exclusively through bandcamp, but once we actually have the cassettes we’ll put the remainder up in the two ZBR stores. As it will be for all Softseed Music releases. Release linked here!

What’s happening the day after? Zampler. Fucking Zampler, yo. 10 brand spankin’ new tracks and 27 previously released bangers!

The following day? Ditch Organ on Tomb Tree.

And after that? Break. No shipping/no posts from January 3rd-16th.

What could possibly be next? The destruction! The humanity! Haaaaaaaaay!

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: OPHELIAC = Straight up, Ophelia is a helluva talented individual. These tracks are astounding and exactly what I wanted for Softseed Music. Please give us some support if you enjoy the music at all.

2021 - 12 - 25 /// A wee surprise

December 25, 2021 by David Norman

Well shit, it’s a little break before the storm hits December 27th and doesn’t let up until our 2-week vacation starting January 2nd, 2022. A quick recap and surprise for my few readers follows.

Campbell Trio ‘///’ cassettes are officially out in the wild and streaming/downloadable via our bandcamp page. Easily one of the best but also underrated albums of 2021, and is tied for CanaDave’s fave release of this year.

Ruhaeda art approved, cassettes will be ordered in January with a probable March/April release.

So what is actually releasing on December 27th? The final Meditations 4-way split 7” in the series of 5.

Next? A sick Tomb Tree Tapes release for an awesome Australian screamo band.

After? Zampler.

The following day? Ditch Organ on Tomb Tree.

And after that? Break. No shipping/no posts from January 3rd-16th.

What could possibly be next? The destruction! The humanity!

Oh right I promised a little surprise. Here it is.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: LIFE = Yep, the already immortalized solo project just dropped a new EP of the heaviest shit they’ve done so far. Incredible.

2021 - 12 - 20 /// Zampler 18 is kicking my ass

December 20, 2021 by David Norman

ZBR camp is hella busy currently, as we’re running around finishing Zampler #18 to ship with order come January. CanaDave came to the realization that after Zaampler #20 there will be no more physical zamplers, only digital. It’s too much work. It’s too much money. It’s too much waste. We’ve also got four releases coming out between ZBR and Tomb Tree between now and Jan 1st! It’s gonna be fun!!!

Speaking of being busy, we’ve already finished about four tapes releases that won’t come out until 2022 and have made it a rule to cut out as many pre-orders as we can. So next year there might be like…one or two pre-orders, everything else we’re just gonna be hella patient with.

Campbell Trio’s ‘///’ cassette is the next release and was teased today on our Instagram. Variants and pics coming December 21st with a full release the following day on December 22nd, 2021.

After that? 7”.

After that? Zampler.

After that? Break. No shipping/no posts from January 3rd-16th.

After that? The destruction! The humanity!

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: NADA SURF = Who is CanaDave’s favourite rock band? It’s Nada Surf, the band Weezer wish they were. One of the longest running/amazing indie rock bands ever. And they released a new album last year.

2021 - 12 - 17 /// Girl Arm

December 17, 2021 by David Norman

We’re busy as all hell planning the end of 2021 at the ZBR camp but have the following things goin’ down:

1) Loftus 12“ tests are on the way, so one can likely assume we’ll have them for sale spring/summer 2022.

2) Girl Arm 12” lathes for ‘Outside Language’ numbered /37 (18 clear, 19 black) are on sale!

3) Campbell Trio ‘///’ cassette releases December 22nd!

After that? 7”.

After that? Zampler.

After that? Break. No shipping/no posts from January 3rd-13th.

After that? The destruction! The humanity!

2021 - 12 - 16 /// Upcoming breaks

December 16, 2021 by David Norman

We ain’t shipping until after xmas. From the 27th until January 3rd business will resume as usual. Then we’re taking two weeks off in January to prepare for 2022 and the absolute monster drop we’ve got planned for Jan 14th. During that time there will be no posts, no new stuff, and no shipping.

What’s next, you might ask? Well first things first, we’re hounding the pressing plant about Orphan Donor so hopefully once a stamper is received they will knock those out immediately. Our apologies about the delay, but it has been out of our hands :(

So what’s actually next? Well, it’s a 12” lathe for Girl Arm’s ‘Outside Language’ and it drops…fucking tomorrow!!! After that Campbell Trio ‘///’ cassette. Variants and pics imminent. Release date? December 22nd.

After that? 7”.

After that? Zampler.

After that? Break.

After that? The destruction! The humanity!

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: GIRL ARM = My friend Miggy from Terrifying Girl’s High School and Emocat Records fame showed me this Canadian math-rock band. Then ZBR got obsessed and released tapes (two copies left, I think) and now some 12” lathes cuz it’s one of the best things we’ve ever heard. Not heard it? Here ya go.
