2024 - 03 - 05 /// Solvalou released!

March 05, 2024 by David Norman

Woah with Instagram and Facebook were down so I thought this was gonna be our only means of communication! Not the case.

Solvalou was released just a few minutes ago so check out the U.S. or Canada/International store and snag the variant you want now before they’re gone. I know it seems like we made a lot (128) but we only have about 50 copies!!!

OMSB Podcast had both Daves dissecting 2023 and laying out their top picks. Lotta ZBR? You betcha. Click on the text to go to the full post or just listen along below.

What March looks like!

ZEGEMA BEACH:
March 11th = PETTERSSON 'Ashen Plain' 12": 8 long years since this Austrian screamo band released an album, this return is very welcome as fans of Suis La Lune, Via Fondo, Trachimbrod, Vi Som Alskade, and deep, melodic, screamo with the densest of atmosphere will eat this up. Pressing on 300 red w/black swirl 12"s.

*semi-tentative*
March 18th = WIDOWDUSK 'Widowdusk' cassette/12"LP: The digital version of this release precedes the physicals by about two months. These California kids are screamo mutants, so much talent at such a young age. This new material is darker, faster, screamier, and way heavier. Cassettes in May (hopefully), 12"s mid-late summer.

March 25th = BURIAL ETIQUETTE 'Mise-en-scène' 12"LP: Years in the works, the Thunder Bay, Ontario band will release their debut LP after long jaunt with numerous splits, EPs, and compilation tracks. Their ethereal style balances screaming with singing and dips as much into emo as it does screamo. Gorgeous, cathartic, and fuckin' amazing. Pressing on 200 copies, 100 cornetto and 100 quad.

TOMB TREE:

March 15th = VOW 'Demo' cassette EP: Featuring Andy from Me, The Hideous Freak on vocals, this new Chicago throwdown hardcore band is the exact opposite of his solo material. Heavy, brooding, heavy, cathartic, and uhhhhh heavy. 4 songs on 70 tapes. For fans of Greedworm, (early) Left Behind, Pathos Departure, and Brothers.

March 22nd = BASQUE 'Pain Without Hope of Healing' cassette EP: The new project from Nate (Karloff, No Funeral Records) shows a very experimental and wild side of screamo, taking nods from These Arms Are Snakes, Hella, and screamo. Exceptional debut! 32 tapes with seven jams on each. Catch them at New Friends Fest 2024!

April 2nd (hey it’s almost March) = .22LR '.22lr' cassette EP: Featuring members of Low Before The Breeze and Less Dead doing short blasts of screamo/emo-violence. This is their debut and no one knows it's comin'. Except you. For fans of: Carrion Spring, Elle, and Wakhan Corridor. 70 tapes.

Protest The Hero ‘Kezia’ almost out! We got like 2 copies left right here!

PROTEST THE HERO - Kezia (cassette)
Sold out
PROTEST THE HERO - Kezia (cassette)
CA$8.00

ZBR095

PROTEST THE HERO - 'Kezia' cassette
released October 2017

For fans of: Coheed And Cambria, Thrice and Mastadon

The very first full length by these Whitby boys. Light years ahead of its time. Heavily influenced by Thrice. Probably the fan favourite. Super limited. Super amazing.

300 red tapes with j-card in a plastic shell. 10 songs.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: MAN IS THE MOST DANGEROUS ANIMAL = Wooooo baby this new LP is ace. Telos meets Converge with some hella sick vocals.

January 13, 2024 by David Norman

ZBR Fest 2024 full lineup (but minus the pre-show bands!) has been unleashed and it’s pretty fucking ridiculous to look at. Snag the two-day tickets by click on the pic or this text.

We decided to push back our digital release of Tristan Tzara as we wait for the Dog Knights store to re-open in February, and we have the VS Self discography and the Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow 12” that we want to push. Therefore we will post the digitals when the physicals go up for sale, somewhere between January 31st and February 7th, I reckon. Stay tuned here and you’ll be in the know nice and early.

Edhochuli has a new single premiering next week and just released their upcoming tour schedule. Please go chill with dem boys (the nicest) and watch them play (the bestest). Jam their first single below.

Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow is next! 100 copies of the 12” go up for sale along with the digitals on Monday January 15th at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST. Jam a song/watch a video below!

Tomb Tree will be dropping the Carrion Spring cassettes for ‘How It All Falls Away Petal By Petal’ next Wednesday January 17th at 9am PST / 11am CST /12pm EST. Above is the /25 reveal! Jam/download below :)

Closet Witch got some seriously creative love from Sputnik Music in their Release Of The Month as the review is set as a Seinfeld episode. What? That is correct. Go there by clicking on the pic above or this text. Listen/snag ‘Chiaroscuro’ below.

Click for the full list!

Joliette also showed up on the Sputnik Music Best EPs of 2023 as voted by the community. I think there is still a green 12” left so def snag it! What an incredible EP, seriously. Read the Top 10 by clicking on the pic above or this text. Jam/buy below.

January 11, 2024 by David Norman

Friday Friday Friday is Wave #3 for ZBR Fest 2024! Final reveal (except the pre-show, still comin’ and hot as fuck!) as well as more two-day passes. We usually don’t sell many one-day passes so this year we’ve upped the two-day and decreased the one-day (there will only be 100 for each single day this year) so when your brain explodes upon seeing Wave #3 you can head directly over to www.zbrfest.com to snag your tickets (linked to this text).

Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow is on deck. Their 12” ‘LP’ has been a long time in the making. Fully written on drums first, then guitars/bass, and finally vocals/lyrics - this project has a very weird way of working but it fucking tracks. 2. Sometimes When I'm Falling Asleep I Think I'm Dying 00:53

3. Word of Ruin 01:04

4. The Shackles I Have Given Myself Are My Treasure 00:48

5. Adrian vs. Thai Chilli Pepper 01:17

6. Perpetual Vertigo 00:46

7. Strike Zone Pro Set Box Set 01:56

8. Figrin Damn 01:22

12. Kong Not King 01:55

15. Our Present is an Absolute Nightmare 05:06

100 copies of the 12” go up for sale along with the digitals on Monday January 15th at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST. Jam the new music video below or click on this text to go to the full premiere/info/links from This Noise Is Ours.

CanaDave’s Softseed Music label released the Social Caterpillar 12”LP for ‘Alphabet Crown’ in 2023 and it showed up on Everything Is Noise’s list, beating out every ZBR and Tomb Tree release! There was another Closet Witch music video, this new one features a bunch of live footage over the song “Constantly Problematic”. It’s less than a minute of your time and ‘Chiaroscuro’ was on almost every grind/screamo list that we saw, so feel free to pick up a copy below.

Not Just A Phase helped us out again with the Spotify playlist, so check it out below if you want the heftiest dose of ZBR on the internet. Click on this text or the pic above to go to the playlist.

Operation X-Ray did an amazing job with their Best Of Screamo/Skramz 2023 and features a ton of artists, including a hefty handfull of our own. Jam it below (noise rock stuff is first, screamo is a little past halfway thru).
