CROWNING ‘Survival/Sickness‘ tape/12" (ZB235)
For fans of: Carrion Spring, Furnace and Leveless
Boasting members of Itto, Frail Body, Ikaray and Pregnancy Pact, Chicago’s most hospitable local band is finally dropping an LP…or mini-LP…or whatever. Thing is, it’s fucking incredible. Started in 2018, the songs are devoid of filler and instead refined and cut to a staggering degree of potency, with no better place to start than the crushing opener “Caldera”. Falling somewhere between riffy hardcore and screamo/metalcore, my good friends have crafted a truly brilliant piece of art. Speaking of, art by Vanessa Valadez and layout by Dave Cullen. Noise samples by Justin. Mustache by Lowell. Vocal warm-up rehearsal is all James. The 12”s come on assorted color vinyl, some with swirls, and the very coveted 25 wax mages, all with an insert and sticker. Cassettes have two runs, including swirled, opaque and halfsies. GLASSING's 'Spotted Horse' was one of the best albums of 2019, so we thought it only fitting to make some kickass swirl tapes for such a kickass release. In mid-2020 ZBR shipped over a bunch of tapes from essential Malaysian screamo label Utarid Tapes, and within that box of joy came some AMU DARIA tapes. We loved those tapes so much and we didn’t want North Americans to suffer the same fate as our bank account (shipping from Malaysia is expensive) that we’ve created 78 Zegema Beach Records’ editions of AMU DARIA’s absolutely phenomenal emo-violence EP debut. 7 tracks of dark, writhing, cathartic emo-violence.

This phenomenal split was released earlier this year digitally, and as we’ve been trying to snag POETRY OF TORCH material for years and are always down to help Shingo release material (Tetola93, Xonto), the inclusion of AGAK was icing on the cake. Truly remarkable Japanese screamo split, with the former throwing one-minute emo-violence rippers atchya (think Republic Of Dreams), while the former drop a massive, five-minute opus (not unlike early Envy).

We have kissed the ground that EYES OF VEROTIKA moved during their shows in the mid-2000s, as this Omaha, Nebraska two/three-piece screamo band put out four incredible releases in their six-year tenure. This obviously makes us giddy to announce the EYES OF VEROTIKA discography cassette, housing all 16 tracks, recollections from band members, beautiful tapes, download codes…everything! Passionate, emotionally unhinged, cathartic screamo from members of Strega Morta, Caught In The Fall, Back When, Hercules, Lodgings, Noah's Ark Was A Spaceship and Post Verse.
