Following up on their stellar debut 12”EP ‘rage/ruin’, the Ohio-based duo of Jason (Men As Trees/Locktender) and Erik (Lord Snow/Stormlight) return to pour post-hardcore, sludge, screamo, and metal into a blender and lace it all with some of the most insane drums you’ll hear this year. ‘Allomancer’ features five tracks spanning nearly 20 minutes, and is inspired heavily by Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn. Some (of many) highlights being the prodigious six-and-a-half minute opener of pure, unrelenting fury “a thousand years of ash and mist”, as well as the most ridiculous “braving the new world” which journeys through some miraculous progressions.
